Toning needles Solinger; 0,7 mm Ø
The needle brings the timbre. The art of voicing requires good skills and proper tools. The Solinger needles.
For pre-voicing, the needles have been given extremely high strength properties. This means they are less prone to breakage than any other available needles. This allows the voicer to pay less attention to the breakage point of the needle and thus extend his range of options when working on the hammers; more variation in tone is possible.
Special stainless steel has been chosen for the Solinger needles. Nickel-plating has intentionally been avoided, because friction can wear down the nickel surface producing sharp edges which shear the hammer felt. This would affect the timbre negatively.
As protection against rust the needle has been coated with a thin layer of anti-corrosive. The layer contains oil which is rubbed off after the first stitches.
Disadvantages of standard needles
- Bending caused by material that is too soft
- Deformation of the point
- Breakage
- Abrasive effect through worn surfaces and shearing of felt fibres
- Dull sounds
Advantages of the Solinger pre-voicing needle 08
- Strongest needle on the market
- Extended needling options for more variation in sound
- Special stainless steel without nickel-plating for better tone
- Defined needle point uniformly processed
