Voicing pliers -without needles-
We recommend Solinger Needles 0,7
Extend your voicing capabilities. The PIANOVUM voicing pliers equips you to achieve the full dynamic potential of a set of hammers.
Weak sections can be strengthened and transition areas or breaks in the tonal spectrum evened out. This is obtained by 'activating' the deeper felt layers which cannot be reached by conventional needling.
The spring tension of the tool can be adjusted to the density of the hammers making it easier to feel hard areas in the felt. Deficits in hammers originating from the factory voicing can be quickly located and rectified.
Advantages of the voicing tool:
Light weight (ease of working, less strain on the arm muscles)
Parallel action stabilises the needles - no torsion on the hammer when pressing. No strain on centre-pins!
Symmetrical application of force and even distribution of tension on the hammer through parallel action.
Less friction in the felt through the guide and shared needle depth. Less force needed when needling.
Spring tension can be adapted to the respective set of hammers through removable springs. This allows a reduction of hand force and the hard parts of the felt can be better perceived, leading to even voicing. The additional needle guide prevents needles from breaking, twisting or becoming embedded in the felt (controlled needling close to the surface possible).
The voicing tool was designed and developed by master piano bulder Michael Thron.
